Recipes Calculator

Scale a lab recipe or solution up or down — buffers, media, master mixes — by entering your original batch size and the target. Every ingredient is scaled by the same factor.

IngredientOriginal amountScaled amount

Enter your original batch size and the target you want; every ingredient amount is scaled by the same factor. Same unit in and out (e.g. mL, g). Useful for scaling buffers, media and reaction master mixes.

How to use it

  1. Enter the original batch (e.g. the volume the recipe is written for) and your target batch.
  2. Type each ingredient and its original amount — the scaled amount appears instantly.
  3. Keep units consistent (mL in → mL out, g in → g out).

Frequently asked questions

How do I scale a recipe?

Multiply every ingredient by the scale factor (target ÷ original batch). Enter both batch sizes above and the tool does it for each ingredient.

Can I use it for a PCR master mix?

Yes — set the original batch to 1 reaction and the target to the number of reactions (plus a little extra for pipetting loss).
